Seed Cycling 101

Ever heard of feeding your hormones? Seed cycling is a natural method that uses specific seeds (flax, pumpkin, sunflower, sesame) to support hormonal balance throughout your menstrual cycle. Research shows that seed cycling helps people struggling with hormonal imbalances such as PCOS, PMDD and others! My favorite part about seed cycling is the fact that it is a proven, all natural approach to problems so many people deal with. Our seed supplement will launch at the end of July but our purpose is to empower people to do this at home! Our product will be for the people on the go- like me! Why Seed Cycling Works

Your hormones shift all month long—so your support should too! Seed cycling is a gentle, food-based practice designed to nourish your body through those natural changes by using specific seeds that support estrogen and progesterone balance at just the right time.

✨ Flax seeds are first up! They contain phytoestrogens—adaptogenic plant compounds that help bring estrogen into balance whether it’s running high or low (how cool is that?). Plus, they’re packed with lignans (a type of phytoestrogen with powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties) and Omega-3s, which help your liver clear excess estrogen.

🌱 Pumpkin seeds join the party early in your cycle too. They're full of magnesium to ease cramps and uplift your mood, and zinc to gently prep your body for healthy progesterone production later on.

🌸 Sesame seeds step in mid-cycle and are tiny but mighty. Like flax, they contain lignans—but these help support progesterone

levels, whether they’re high or low. They also bring in zinc and calcium to

Understanding my hormones answered so many of my ā€œwhysā€:
Why am I crying?

Why am I so tired?

Why do I hurt?

Why did I feel on top of the world last week, and now I just want to crawl
under the covers?

Finding real, scientific answers to those questions gave me a kind of self-confidence that no one can take away. It helped me understand my body, support my body—and most importantly, LOVE my body.

The Phases

1. Menstrual Phase (Days 1–5)

Your period. Hormones are at their lowest. Your body is shedding the uterine lining—rest, nourish, and go inward.

2. Follicular Phase (Days 6–13)

Estrogen rises. Your energy picks up. It’s a great time for creativity, planning, and feeling refreshed.

3. Ovulation Phase (Day 14-ish)

Peak estrogen. You’re most fertile and magnetic. Mood, energy, and libido are all high. Perfect for connection and bold moves.

4. Luteal Phase (Days 15–28 ish)

Progesterone rises. Time to slow down, nest, and focus inward. PMS may show up—support with grounding foods and self-care.

MEET THE FOUNDER & CEO

Katie Rittman

Hi new besties! 🧔

I’m Katie—the heart and hands behind Hormonal AF! You’re
probably wondering how I found myself creating a brand all about hormones, cycles, and loving our bodies a little louder.

Well, here’s the thing: I’m a nursing student in the honors program with an immense love for helping people. Caring for others has always been my purpose—but caring for myself took time. Like many of us, I grew up thinking
periods were something to hide or power through. But once I started learning about the menstrual cycle—really learning the science behind it—everything shifted.

Understanding my hormones helped me answer all those
overwhelming "whys":

Why am I crying? Why do I feel amazing one week and
exhausted the next? Finding answers gave me confidence I didn’t even know I was missing—and I knew I wasn’t alone in that.

Hormonal AF was born from my passion for education, seed
cycling, and empowering everyone with a uterus to reconnect with their body in
a loving, science-backed, and slightly sassy way. This brand is about honoring your cycle, nourishing your hormones, and knowing that your body isn’t broken—it’s brilliant.
